TV Guide Online described this special as follows:

Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) hosts a retrospective on how teens have been portrayed on TV over the last five decades. [T]he program is slated to screen scenes from some 300 programs -- from Leave It to Beaver 1957-63) to Happy Days (1974-84) to Beavis & Butt-Head (1993-97). According to executive producer Charles Duncombe (who had access to the vast video library at the Museum of Television and Radio), the clips are thematically arranged ``to follow a natural arc of adolescence from parenting issues to the social world of high school and friends to dating, sex and graduation leaving the teen years behind.''

The show was rated ``TV-PG-D (objectionable dialogue) due to the inclusion of excerpts of shows that have dealt with sex, dating, parents and high school'' (unknown source).
