Here ``day'' represents the number of days since the founding of the list (i.e., 2/17/92 = day 1); ``since'' is the number of days since the last entry; ``members'' is the total list membership; ``diff'' is the change in total membership; ``join'' is the number of members who joined since the last entry; ``left'' is the number of members who left the list since the last entry; ``rdiff'', ``rjoin'' and ``rleft'' are the rates of change (in members per day) corresponding to ``diff'', ``join'' and ``left'', respectively -- that is, ``rdiff'' equals ``diff'' divided by ``since'', and so on.
Now for the plot:
Note that the bars represent ten-times the rate of entry or exit. (Of course, the ones above the zero-line represent the rate of joining; the ones below, the rate of leaving.) I did it this way to make it easier to see the differences between the bars.
Note: All of this information is based only on e-mail addresses. It doesn't take into account that some members subscribe under more than one address, that they sometimes change addresses, etc.
This is information about the most active members of the ``clarissa'' mailing list, from its first month of existence, Feb 92, to Mar 96.
For each month, the total number of list messages (``mess'') and the number of members who posted (``post'') are given, along with the three most frequent posters (unless there was a tie for third-place, in which case there may be 4 or more for that month), the number of posts they made and the percentage of the month's total that their posts constituted.
