Story

When Sabrina's bitter math teacher singles her out for unfair treatment, her aunts decide it's time to teach him a few of their own spellbinding lessons. Meanwhile, Salem panics when his ex-girlfriend decides to pay him a surprise visit, especially since she has no idea that he has been turned into a cat. (from ABC's AOL folder)

• Sabrina must be getting used to her aunts by now. In the opening scene, she says, ``There's nothing worse than having your parents call you uptight.'' (my emphasis)
• In the opening titles, Sabrina indicates that they'll be back in two minutes. Just FYI, when this episode was repeated on 11 Apr 97, they were away for 1 min 50 sec.
• This is one of the episodes in which ``Funky Song'' appears. Harvey sings it in the library when Sabrina is studying: ``Shake your whammy fanny, funky song, funky song! Shake your whammy fanny, fu-u-unky song!'' Then Sabrina briefly boogies to a bit of it before she unfreezes everyone in the hallway.
• Melissa's sister Elizabeth appears as Emma in this episode; she gets locked out of algebra class when she's late after stopping to help a girl in a wheelchair.
• Sabrina's aunts continue to smell odd things, as in earlier episodes:
  • Zelda asks, ``What smells so sweet?'' when she walks in on Hilda and Sabrina cooking up a pot of revenge
  • Zelda tastes the pot of revenge she, Hilda and Sabrina are cooking up and says, ``It's really spiteful...''
• A No. 2 cauldron is about 2 1/2 feet in diameter. A No. 10 is about 6 feet (?) in diameter.
• The (end of the) incantation to cast the ``just desserts'' spell:

  Hilda:

  Adder's fork and blind worm's sting
  Lizard's leg and owlet's wing
  Force charm of powerful trouble

• When Mr. Rothwell shows up in class, Gordie says, ``Aww, toothpicks!'' When I first recorded this info, I didn't know if it would ever come in handy, but then Drell said the same thing in ``Jenny's Dream'' (#012) [aired after this episode]. So there ya go. :-)
• In this episode, they use the rarely-employed (in this series) technique of making a live cat lick its lips to simulate speech (when Salem is in the little red car).
• Mr. Rothwell's first name is Jeremy. He's just teaching until he can start his own software company.
• Mr. Rothwell is charged with violating:
  1. Vehicular Code, Section 16-4
  2. Existential Code, Section 63-B
• The findings of the court on the above counts:
  1. Guilty; usual fine of $40 waived in favor of a sentence of a lifetime of teaching high school algebra
  2. Not Guilty, due to insufficient evidence
• Salem's completed about 30 years of the 100 he was sentenced to for attempting world domination.
