• Split-screen effects:
  • Clarissa talks to her alter ego in ``The Great Debate'' (#119) -- exquisite timing, but a little problem with the left hand of the Clarissa on the right when she turns around. [See Mistakes.]
  • Clarissa talks to herself and hands herself a ticket in ``Marshall's Parents Visit'' (#138).
  • Clarissa talks to her look-alike great-great-aunt Coco in ``Don't I Know You'' (#150).
  • A few different split-screen effects with Clarissa and the angelic Ferguson in ``Ferguson Explains It All'' (#161):
    • Clarissa tries unsuccessfully to shake Ferguson's hand.
    • Ferguson disappears and reappears several times.

  Rick Fernandes, on the subject of split-screens:

  We start off by shooting half the screen with MJH talking to her Double to get dialogue timing and shadows right. Once we have that half down on tape we play that tape back to her and we record the other half. We still use the double so we can have real shadows cast on her. In editing we sync up the two sides do a wipe down the center and we have two MJH's. When she handed herself the ticket there was an extra step of Frame By Frame painting. That's why some of you see a flicker; there were no FX houses in Orlando that can do Field By Field, which would have cleaned up any flicker.

• A line of dialog switches from Clarissa's voice to Janet's in ``ME 101'' (#120). [``Go ahead -- test me, Clarissa.'']
• Marshall and Janet appear out of nowhere at the movie theater and in the principal's office in ``The Darling Wars'' (#128).
• Clarissa's image in the mirror becomes Eve Biderberg's in ``Hero Worship'' (#146).
