- Favorite Lines
- ``Yeah, perfect. Except for the fact that I wanted to go with Harvey,
not Pop-n-Fresh!'' - Sabrina
- ``This is too weird, even for me.'' - Jenny
- Sabrina:
``Wow, the bassoon! I think that's really sexy!''
Libby:
``Maybe to another bassoon.''
- ``Foos it or lose it!'' - Sabrina
- Favorite Scenes
- to come
- Other Good Stuff
- Harvey's reaction when Libby said he worked out.
- The look on Sabrina's face when Hilda and Zelda leave her room
after talking about how there's no love spell.
- The look on Hilda's face when she got caught eating man-dough.
- Nice delivery on the line: ``We rode in on his motor-cy-cle!''
- Look on Sabrina's face when she sees Harvey sitting alone at the dance.
- The storyline about Hilda's ``dream date gone bad''
and how she thought she could change him.
A big target, perhaps, but I thought they hit it.
(The date was well-played, too, by Tom Wilson.)
- I love the way they had Sabrina
tell Harvey how she feels about him without really telling him.
That's gotta be one of the most clever things in the whole first season.
- Weak Points and Mistakes
- I don't like the way Jenny is coming off in the series.
She was much better-written, IMO, in
the movie.
- I hated Melissa's makeup in this episode.
The area around her eyes was too light compared to the rest of her face.
This combined with the lighting in certain scenes
made her look way too made-up.
- I could've done without the scene where the aunts are dancing around
while making Sabrina's date.
- Sabrina's hair after she changes to go to the dance.
(I guess I have something against hair-clips.)
- Chad didn't know the word ``cafeteria'' but he knew the word ``bunting''?
``Bunting''?!
[There's a joke in here somewhere about the
second episode,
but I don't know what it is.
;-)
]
- Big-time awkward moment: Harvey dancing.

- They brought back the ``Harvey and Sabrina!'' taunt from
``Bundt Friday'' (#002).
- The talking picture is back.
(See the first episode.)
- In the
connections-to-the-movie
department: they finally used the thing about how there's no love spell.
(But this probably came up in the comics first, right?)
- There's a lot of dancing in this episode.
Both Melissa and Nate (Harvey) have studied dancing in real life.
Melissa has even taught dance to little kids.
- The ``Got milk?'' line by Zelda's date
(and associated running gag with the milk)
is an amazing example of ``product placement''.
(``Got Milk?'' is one of their regular commercials.)
- When he is introduced to Chad Corey Dylan, Harvey gives his full name:
Harvey Dwight Kinkle.
- Lars H. says:
What is Harvey about to have for lunch as he sits down at the table in the
school cafeteria with Sabrina and Jenny? Orange juice and pizza, which, as we
learn in the
opening monologue of CEIA Episode #101,
are the two taste components of barf!
- The little song they play
while Hilda and Zelda are making the dream date out of man dough is
``Amor'',
composed by Sklar, Ruiz and Mendez.
(I have no idea whose performance of it they used, though.)
- The song at the dance that goes
``I never met a girl like you before...''
is
``A Girl Like You''
by
Edwyn Collins,
available on his album
Gorgeous George.
A live version from
Late Night with Conan O'Brien
is on the album
Live From 6A.
